The murder of a 29-year-old resident of Alexandroupoli shocked the public. The young woman died after she was beaten by her husband, who lied that she fell down the stairs.
The victim, who arrived at the local hospital with her husband (!), Told the doctors that she had fallen down the stairs. Alas, the young woman could not be saved. As it became known, the victim of domestic violence was a mother of three children, who was admitted to the Alexandroupolis University General Hospital last night, where she was hospitalized on 5 December.
According to information provided to APE-MPE by the hospital’s management, a Greek Muslim woman from Alexandroupolis was taken to the emergency room by her husband on Sunday. Due to the severity of the injuries, the young woman, who was also infected with the coronavirus, underwent a total of four operations and was admitted to the Covid intensive care unit, where she arrived shortly after 20:30 yesterday.
According to the available information, during hospitalization, on December 8, her parents filed a complaint about bodily harm by her husband, who lied to doctors that his wife had fallen down the stairs and ordered his wife to say the same.
From the conclusion of the forensic medical examination, which followed the complaint, it turned out that the multiple injuries she received in various parts of the body, rupture of the liver and spleen, could not occur (as in this case) when falling from the stairs and most likely occurred in the result of the beatings.
This is the 16th death of a woman from a long list of victims at the hands of her own spouses, partners or cohabitants since the beginning of the year.
