Lamia: investigative journalism into the death of a 14-year-old girl

Many questions remain unanswered about the death of a 14-year-old from Lamia. The case is still not closed, and the journalistic investigation and the LamiaReport report say that the dying girl had to wait 4 hours (!) for the help of doctors in the box for the covid patients of the Lamia hospital.

The girl was taken to the hospital at 9:30 am, along with her mother and sister, who also tested positive for coronavirus, were in the emergency room with her. The mother informed the health care workers that for several days her daughter had mild coronavirusbut now her condition has worsened.

According to available information, from 9:30 to 1:30 in the afternoon, the teenager is left without a doctor’s examination, and her condition is rapidly deteriorating. During all this time, they took blood from her and made a cardiogram. The younger sister was taken home, and the girl’s mother and aunt continue to await medical help for their child. Finally at 1:30 am, amid the deteriorating condition of the girl, her aunt begins to demand an immediate examination by a doctor.

The doctor soon appeared, carrying a special uniform for work. However, when he saw the girl through the window, he threw away the form and rushed to her. The teenager was immediately taken to intensive care and the necessary examinations were carried out – against the background of very low blood pressure, the child was very pale. However, the time to save her was irretrievably lost.

According to information LamiaReportDuring two dramatic hours, the mother and aunt did not know anything about the condition of the girl, for whose life the doctors were fighting. She was to be transported to the Children’s Hospital in Athens, and an ambulance had already been at the ready at the entrance from two in the afternoon. But … she was not needed, since the struggle for the life of a teenager ended tragically.
