The diagnostic center in Athens reportedly sold original, but in fact “fake” certificates confirming the previous Covid-19 disease, although those who received the documents never had a molecular PCR test or any other relevant test.
The certificate of the transferred coronavirus disease was passed through all official databases.
The cost of obtaining a certificate for persons who wanted to avoid vaccination, to gain access to all facilities and activities intended only for vaccinated citizens was 200 euros.
The scam was revealed by reporters on Mega TV’s Live News program on Monday.
The original, but actually fake, certificate bore all the necessary seals and signatures of two doctors at a major diagnostic center in Athens.
An unvaccinated woman contacted an intermediary and expressed interest in obtaining such a fake certificate.
All she had to do was hand over € 200 and basic personal data such as first and last name, social security number and email address to the scammers.
A week later, she received a certificate confirming that she was a Covid-19 patient, as evidenced by the results of a PCR test.
The woman never had to visit the center, and no one from the center came to her home for a test.
The woman was able to verify that she was registered in the official data bank of the national health system EODY as “infected” with the virus.
An employee of the diagnostic center reportedly advised her to observe a 10-day quarantine in order to avoid fines in the event of a violation under the Covid rules in Greece.
An hour after the report on Mega TV, the Ministry of Health opened an investigation into the matter and announced that it was suspending cooperation with the diagnostic center until further notice or until the investigation was completed.
Without naming it, Mega TV said the center is well-known, adding that it is not yet known whether one or more employees were involved in scams that endanger human lives.
PS To the multitude of fake vaccination certificates, similar certificates were added, as well as fake certificates of PCR tests, etc. Without a doubt, similar documents were issued before. Then we are surprised that, despite the vaccination, the number of cases is growing, and the saddest thing is the number of deaths.
