In Lamia, a 14-year-old girl who contracted the coronavirus died in the emergency department of the General Hospital from an ischemic attack.
A third-grade gymnasium student was admitted to the hospital at 9:30 am with precordial pain. The survey showed that she suffered an ischemic stroke, presumably due to a complication of a previously diagnosed coronavirus. LamiaReport.
The coronavirus was diagnosed in the child on November 29, but was mild. On Saturday morning, the girl suddenly felt unwell and was taken to Lamia Hospital in an EKAB ambulance. Doctors speculate that ischemic stroke was a complication of covid, which caused heart failure. The exact cause of death will be established by a forensic medical examination. Lamia’s General Directorate of Health said:
“Today, December 4, 2021, at 09:30, a 14-year-old girl with a registered Covid-19 disease, with weakness, diarrhea and symptoms of dehydration, arrived from EKAB accompanied by her mother. According to the anamnesis received, she was not vaccinated against the coronavirus, was ill from 11/29/2021 and was treated at home. On the basis of the protocol, a clinical, laboratory and imaging examination was carried out immediately, as a result of which acute coronary syndrome was diagnosed.
An immediate attempt was made to address the most serious clinical picture with the help of emergency doctors, pediatricians, MSN, anesthesiologists, intensive care unit, while liaising with Agia Sofia Children’s Hospital and EKAB to ensure the condition is stabilized. Unfortunately, despite all efforts, the girl suffered a cardiac arrest and, despite continued efforts in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, she died at 17:26. ” (ANDREAS KOLOKITAS).
