Strong tremors with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale were recorded this morning, November 30, on Ikaria.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located 20 km northwest of the island. The Geodynamic Institute of Athens has estimated the depth of the source at 17.5 km.
Nine minutes later, seismographs recorded another earthquake, measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale. The source depth was 24.3 km.
The earthquake data comes from the Geodynamic Institute of Athens and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute. They are recorded by an automatic computer system, without the participation of seismologists, and are in the process of constant updating.
