It is impossible to look calmly at the footage of the hurricane that broke out in Istanbul. Heavy trucks lie on the highway, rooftops fly in the air.
At least 19 people suffered from the rampant elements, three are in serious condition, four were killed.
The government announcement, according to the disaster management agency, said:
“Four people, including a foreign citizen, were killed and 19 of our fellow citizens were injured, three of them seriously.”
An informational DHA broadcasts a video of two men and a baby carriage lying under the rubble of a destroyed building in the west of Istanbul, in the Esenyurt district. Another victim is a woman who was killed by a heavy beam that fell from the roof of her house, reports ΑΠΕ ΜΠΕ.
A wind force of 130 kilometers per hour knocked down trees, tore off roofs, destroyed balconies and turned cars over like fluffs. Maritime traffic on the Bosphorus has been suspended, planes flying to Istanbul have been redirected to Izmir and Ankara.
Ekrem Imamoglu, Mayor of Istanbul, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He urges the population to be vigilant.
