Marina Shalaeva, Head of Overseas Real Estate and Private Investments at Knight Frank Russia, spoke about the preferences of Russians buying housing abroad.
A fifth of the inquiries, or 20%, go to a Russian company regarding the acquisition of Greek real estate. That is, every fifth person who wants to move to a permanent place of residence abroad or buy a villa for vacation chooses the leading Greece for this. True, Portugal lags behind our country quite a bit, only 1%. Marina Shalaeva names the most preferable countries for Russian citizens, where they buy real estate the most:
“Greece and Portugal are just predominantly the demand for real estate for migration. We are talking about budgets from 250 thousand euros, mainly apartments in Athens, although housing on the islands is also in demand. In Portugal, the most popular segment is also hotel property, for example, a hotel in Lisbon. “
13% of Russian clients want to buy real estate in Cyprus. The fourth and fifth places in the ranking are occupied by Spain (7%) and Great Britain (5%). The top 10 also includes the Caribbean, France, USA, Austria and Germany.
Shalaeva says that Cyprus attracts Russian citizens with the purchase of a villa for family vacations. In Spain and Portugal, they often buy housing for moving, in order to obtain a residence permit upon purchase. Commercial real estate in Spain and luxury housing in the UK are in demand.
