Greece: vaccination of children starts before Christmas

Pediatrician Spyros Mazanis is confident that vaccination of children 5-11 years old will begin in Greece before Christmas:

“One step after America and Europe approved a vaccine for children aged 5-11. Week after week we are waiting for the decision in our country. The dose will be 1/3. We need to vaccinate children. Currently, 700,000 children have been vaccinated. The prevalence among older children has been reduced, one in three have been vaccinated, while there is an excessive transmission among children of primary school age. ”

In September, given the start of the school year and the opening of schools, the Greek Prime Minister approved the vaccination of children over 12 years oldrecommended by experts. It was decided to include private pediatricians in the vaccination process for children. Discussion and adoption of it took place at a meeting of the leadership of the Greek Ministry of Health, pediatricians and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The government hoped that many parents would vaccinate their children even before school began.
