Theodoridou: With the third dose, the number of antibodies grows faster

The report from the Control Center of America was mentioned by the President of the National Vaccination Committee, Maria Theodoridou, during a briefing on the National Vaccine Coverage Plan for COVID-19.

“The covid-19 vaccine protects against both infection and serious illness, which is three times more common in unvaccinated people, twice as often as when the vaccine is given, and seven times as often as against death.”

“Of the vaccinated people who took the third dose, only 6 out of 5,000 got sick, while 123 out of the unvaccinated group,” said Ms Theodoridou.

She mentioned the importance of the third dose, especially for vulnerable populations most at risk.

“Vaccinated people can transmit the virus, and the risk increases with high viral loads,” said the President of the National Vaccination Committee.

According to her, after the 3rd dose, the growth of antibodies occurs quickly, as it takes from one to three days.

“Physical infection does not protect, there are disorders that leave gaps,” he said, citing research. “Disease and vaccination, that is, hybrid immunity, provides the best immunity,” he said.

She also stressed that the Delta mutation has increased the incidence of recontamination.

Ms Theodoridou also recalled the importance of the flu vaccine, saying that the winter will be difficult. 2,300,000 citizens have already been vaccinated, concluding their speech with the slogan: “Vaccination against covid-19, vaccination against influenza.”

The General Secretary of Primary Health Care, Marios Themistokleous, emphasized that “the vaccination program is in full swing, we have the capacity to deliver more than 110,000 vaccinations per day”.
