EOT: promoting Greece in the Scandinavian tourism market

Targeted actions to promote new tourism destinations in the Scandinavian, Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg markets have recently been implemented by tourism organizations as part of their communication strategy for 2021.

EOT Scandinavia, as highlighted in a related announcement, participated as a sponsor (partner) in the B2B event “Travel News Market 2021”, which took place on November 11 at a central hotel in Stockholm.

The event, which was held for the fifth time this year since last year’s cancellation due to the pandemic, was to seek new offers and tourism products that are popular with the Nordic population. The Scandinavians have shown interest in Greece.

The event was attended by over 800 representatives of the local tourism market (travel agencies, airlines, experts, visitors (potential consumers of the tourism product), local media journalists, as well as representatives of national tourism organizations from 30 countries and 119 international companies working in the tourism sector.

The head of the EOT Scandinavian service Pavlos Murmas held meetings with representatives of T.Os Apollo, Trawell, Sembo-Stena Line, Ticket Privatresor and Don Orient Tours, as well as with ten new partners and agencies, during which they discussed prospects for further cooperation, the inclusion of new destinations in Greece in joint programs, as well as participation in study tours to Greece during 2022.

“All you need is Greece”
Throughout the event, a promotional video “All you need is Greece” was shown. The pavilion was visited by the Ambassador of Greece to Sweden Andreas Friganas, who told the participants about the problems of the tourism sector in the era of the pandemic.

The Dutch EOT Service, following online seminars held in Halkidiki (8 April), Crete (18 May) and the Ionian Islands (8 June), has scheduled a new series of webinars for 185 tour operators in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, with the aim of informing them about classic destinations (Kos) and alternative tourism (Volos, Epirus, Pilion).

The webinars are supported by a dedicated EOT service platform in the Netherlands, www.linktogreece.com, which acts as an online meeting space, presenting promotional materials for destinations, organizations and companies.
