Athens: Metro, tram and ΗΣΑΠ will suspend operations on November 19

Friday 19 November in the capital of Greece continue strike of transport workers. Fortunately for passengers, this time the work of the tram, metro and city train will be temporarily suspended.

Athens City Rail Transport (STASY) staff will stop work between 11:00 and 14:00 on Friday 19 November to attend the funeral of their colleague who died in a workplace accident on Tuesday.

This time, according to union leaders, the work suspension is necessary so that employees can attend the funeral of 41-year-old Petros Yamalis at 12:30 at the third cemetery in Athens.

Jaamalis died when the rail grinder, which he was riding with his colleagues, crashed into a train due to a breakdown. Another 3 people were injured. One of the wounded was seriously injured and is now in the hospital.

Trade unions are demanding to shed light on the death of an employee and to punish those responsible.
