The real hype was caused by the information that unvaccinated citizens will receive daily SMS messages on their mobile phones, which will motivate them to get vaccinated. This statement caused numerous questions and indignation among the inhabitants of Greece.
According to Deputy Minister of Digital Government George Georgantas, SMS will only apply to those who are registered with an intangible recipe and will not be sent daily:
“SMS (reminders) will be sent only to those who are listed in the register of citizens using the service of an intangible recipe. And, as a rule, he signed up for a vaccination that did not take place. About 2.5 million people use the “intangible prescription” system, and it appears that about 400,000 of them have not been vaccinated. It is to them, within the framework of preventive medicine, that a reminder will be sent via sms. The newsletter will not be sent daily. Messages will be sent to the phone periodically. This will serve as a reminder to protect health in general and is done with good intentions. Even if 1-2 out of 5 who have not been vaccinated get vaccinated, it will only benefit everyone. “
