Sariyannis: 5,000 covid cases expected in November

Scientists’ forecasts regarding the development of a pandemic are nightmares, since it is only a matter of time before overcoming the barrier of 5,000 cases.

The country was covered by another wave of coronavirus. On Saturday, October 30, a black record was recorded for cases since the start of the pandemic, as the number of new infections in 24 hours reached 4,696.

Demosthenos Sariyannis, professor of environmental engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, pointed out the need to stop the pandemic wave of coronavirus, addressing the public from the TV screen. “Difficulties await us if we do not urgently do everything to stop the growth trend. The average (number of infected) by November 16 may reach 5,000 cases, ”warned Mr Sarigiannis.

As the specialist said, the continuous process of viral load growth must be stopped, regardless of the increase in the number of vaccinations. “Even if tomorrow 4 million people are vaccinated, the time until the development of immunity will take a month,” he stressed.

According to Mr. Sariyannis, the big problem with the congestion of the healthcare system will lead to an increase in deaths. “In city hospitals, especially in Thessaloniki, beds are almost full. Many of those intubated are outside intensive care units, ”he said.
