On the night of October 30 to 31, we turn the clock hands

Time changes take place on the night of Saturday to Sunday 31 October. The hands of the clock are moved back one hour to change to winter time.

The transition from daylight saving time to winter time will occur at 04:00 am Sunday, October 31, 2021, that is, tonight.

“We remind you that on Sunday, 31 October 2021, daylight saving time expires in accordance with Directive 2000/84 of the European Parliament and of the Council of the European Union of 19.01.2001 on the transition to daylight saving time. The hands of the clock must be moved back one hour, that is, from 04:00 to 3:00 in the morning, “the Ministry of Transport officially reminds.

As “Russian Athens” previously wrote, the European Union planned to stop the practice of changing the time twice a year, in March and October. However, the European Council reportedly did not seem to take the issue seriously and two years later no common position was reached on the issue.

According to some reports at the beginning of the year, each of the national governments independently decided that there would be too many different time zones in the EU.

We will remind, in February 2018, the European Parliament asked the European Commission to conduct a “thorough assessment of the current directive on daylight saving time and submit a proposal for its revision.” In the summer of 2018, the commission held public consultations, in which 4.6 million European citizens took part, of which 84% were in favor of stopping the transfer of clocks.

Another reason that is currently being mentioned is that the fight against the pandemic was more important to Member States than trying to find a solution for daylight saving time.
