Cyclone "Nearchos" ready to strike Greece

In the next 24 hours, the Mediterranean cyclone Nearchos is expected to hit Greece. Meteorologists make their forecasts, but the cyclone is too unpredictable …

Cloudy weather with rain and thunderstorms that are likely to be short-lived but heavy is expected from Sunday 31 October, according to the National Meteorological Service’s weather forecast.

According to windy.com, the epicenter of Cyclone Nearchos lies between the Peloponnese, Sicily and Libya with winds reaching 104 km / h.

It’s hard to predict …

Accurately predicting the course of the barometric minimum and especially the Mediterranean cyclone is a difficult puzzle for numerical weather prediction models, as they are usually created in maritime areas where observations are limited. This becomes even more difficult when there is no strong cause for atmospheric potential, such as the existence of a stream that will drive the evolution and flow of the barometric minimum. The Mediterranean cyclone Nearchos is, of course, no exception to this atmospheric equation that numerical weather prediction models are trying to solve.

Meteorologists believe that if the cyclone moves towards Greece, it will pass through the southern part of the Peloponnese, Cyclades, Crete and the islands of the eastern part of the Aegean Sea. In the eastern part of the mainland, in Sporades, Euboea and the islands of the northern part of the Aegean Sea, cloudy weather will be observed, in places it will rain.

The rest of the country is generally clear with some temporary clouds. Visibility in the north in the morning will be limited in places. Winds will blow in the west from the eastern directions, from 3 to 5 points, and in the southern part of the Ionian locally 6 Beaufort. In the east, north, northeast from 3 to 5, in the Aegean Sea area 6 points with a gradual weakening. In the southeast of the Aegean Sea, southeast winds will prevail from 3 to 5 and gradually up to 6 on the Beaufort scale.

The temperature will not change significantly and will be from 18 to 19 ° С in the north and from 20 to 22 ° С at rest.
