Tourism Minister Vasilis Kikilias told Radio SKAI on Friday that the number of tourists who arrived in Greece in September accounted for 75% of the number of arrivals in the same month of 2019.
According to him, in the period from January to August 2021, about 8.6 million tourists arrived in Greece, compared to 4.8 million at the same time in 2020, which means an increase of 79.2%.
In August 2021 alone, Greece was visited by 4 million tourists, which is 125.5% more than in the same month last year, and in September 2021, 2,352,788 tourists visited the country, which is 110% more than in September 2020. …
“We have achieved our goal by 2021 to reach 50% of tourism turnover in 2019,” said Kikilias. “This is the result of a tremendous government effort,” he added, “and the successful rebranding of Greece with respect to new health protocols. And also how we dealt with the coronavirus pandemic, making visitors feel safe. ”
