Perama: 20-year-old boy, shot by police, died instantly, he received 2 bullets – in the chest and stomach

According to the conclusion of the forensic expert after the autopsy, the 20-year-old boy, who was shot during a police chase in Perama, received two gunshot wounds – in the stomach and in the chest. His death was instant.

One bullet damaged a lung, the second stuck in the right side of the abdomen. The expert’s opinion will be attached to the case.

As our newspaper reported, late Friday evening, DIAS officers chased a car that was suspected of being stolen. He did not stop at a signal from the police, which resulted in a chase from Aigaleo to Perama. There, the stolen car fell into a bus trap, and the driver turned back. Leaving the pursuit, the car with the suspects rammed five police motorcycles and tried to escape. At the same time, 7 law enforcement officers were wounded.

While trying to stop the car, the police used weapons (35 bullets were fired). As a result, the driver was killed, one passenger was injured, and another managed to escape. As it turned out, the car had indeed been stolen. As it became known later, there were three gypsies in it: a 20-year-old driver and two 16-year-old teenagers.

On Wednesday, October 27, at the direction of the prosecutor of Piraeus, all seven will appear before the investigator of the Attica Police Headquarters, where they are now being held, for an explanation on several points: on charges of premeditated murder, attempted murder with intent, the use of weapons. A ballistic examination will determine which of them used the weapon and who fired the fatal shots. According to the information, they will claim that they were under the protection of the law because their lives were in danger.

According to the latest information, the 20-year-old murdered guy was not driving, he was in the back seat of a stolen car, according to the lawyer of a 16-year-old teenager who was injured during the chase. Behind the wheel was a third – fifteen-year-old. The lawyer says:

“We have a lot of cases of disobedience, when cars do not stop during checks. Alas, every time we mourn the dead, and the citizens are in danger. “

Regarding the fact that the car rammed police motorcycles, the lawyer notes:

“They couldn’t shoot at the tires of the vehicle. When and from what distance can a police officer use a weapon? Were the lives of all seven in danger? They are criminals, they stole a car, but they had no weapons. “

It is expected that today a minor who managed to escape from the scene and is wanted by the police will be handed over to law enforcement agencies. It is noted that he will come voluntarily and accompanied by a lawyer, OPEN reports.

With regard to the deceased 20-year-old boy, the lawyer says:

“What will his wife do with three babies? How will she do it? Sorry for the guy. He didn’t steal, I don’t know how he got there. He used to make a living to keep his kids fed. “

We will remind, the police opened fire on three passengers of the car. Greek media, and not only, accuse the detained police officers of unprofessionalism, noting that they shot 38 times, although three young people, two of whom were minors, were unarmed. As follows from the records of their talks with the leadership, which were published, none of the police officers were injured, which refutes the official statement of the police. Earlier, according to ELAS, it became known that 7 police officers were injured as a result of the incident. However, from their radio dialogues, it is not heard that such a thing happened.

The murdered man’s twenty-year-old wife talks about the events in Aspropyrgos and whether tensions will continue:

“It depends on the law, because everyone sees in us those who can be kicked and beaten. Aren’t we human? They don’t give us jobs, and they force the kids to steal. “

One of the detained DIAS motorcyclists in the remand prison testifies:

“He (a 20-year-old boy) attacked us with a car. He hit all of our motorcycles consistently. We fired when he was driving a motorcycle with my colleagues. We fired when the driver rammed the motorcycles. We tried to stop the criminals’ car. After the incident, when we learned that all colleagues were healthy, we notified the center, and then provided first aid to the victims with tourniquets and hemostatic bandages. Everything was done to prevent an immediate danger – for my life and the lives of my colleagues. “

There is some kind of misunderstanding in the behavior of the police officers involved in the incident due to disobeying the order. The possibility of problems with the radio, due to which the connection could be lost, is being considered. According to OPEN, while the persecution appeared to have ended, it was suddenly discovered that a DIAS group in West Attica was chasing a suspected car that rammed police motorcycles and they opened fire, fatally wounding the young man.

From the report of the police officer from the leadership center, who issued the commands, it follows that he was informed about the suspicious car and it is clarified that he ordered not to pursue – for the safety of both the police and the citizens. The head of DIAS confirmed that the order had been received, but a few minutes later another DIAS team suddenly informed of the shooting in Perama and that there were casualties. DIAS employees reported that they did not hear the order on the radio. Mr. Vasilis Dumas states:

“The police are convinced and confident that they used their weapons to save their lives and the lives of their colleagues.”

It is assumed that the charges, after the results of the ballistic examination, will be as follows:

a policeman who shot a 20-year-old boy will be charged with murder with possible deception; Whoever wounded the 16-year-old is charged with attempted murder; Those who shot at the car will be charged with violating the gun law.

Panayiotis Theodorikakos, Minister of Citizens’ Protection, instructed the police to conduct an official investigation into the actions of the officers, allotting five days for this. He asked the head of ELAS to provide a quick assessment of the actions of the DIAS police officers involved in the incident by Friday.
