Parades on October 28 across the entire region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace have been canceled due to the heavy epidemiological burden.
As announced a few minutes ago, parades across the region have been canceled, in particular in Drama, Kavala, Rhodope and Evros, due to an increase in the number of coronavirus cases, in line with the decision of Governor Christos Metios.
The decree says that the part of the October 28 parade concerning the participation of student youth, cultural and public organizations and associations is canceled (without mentioning the cancellation of the military march).
The announcement states: “Based on the above, we know that, due to the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, in order to avoid further synchronization and deterioration of the epidemiological situation, part of the parade (participation of student youth, cultural and social organizations and associations in the procession) on the 28th was canceled throughout the region. The rest of the festive patriotic events, as planned, remain valid. “
The Interior Ministry canceled a student parade in Thessaloniki on October 27 due to national mourning over the death of politician Fofi Gennimat.
