Fear of disease outbreaks and increased mortality

A warning signal of a pandemic outbreak ahead of winter is ringing for scientists and experts at a time when the number of cases and deaths is already on the rise. Yesterday, Monday, EODY registered 3,937 cases using a total of 76,793 tests. 54 deaths were announced, the worst in the past five months, and 354 patients were admitted to intensive care units.

“Every 1000 cases we register every day, on average, leads to 10 deaths,” warned professor of pulmonology Nikos Tsanakis, referring to the heavy epidemiological burden in the country. Speaking at SKAI, he called the numbers “ruthless,” estimating that by the end of the year we will have about 2,500 coronavirus deaths in the country. He did not even rule out the possibility that the daily death rate could reach 40-45 people.
