Coronavirus outbreak at Thessaloniki school

At the 4th secondary school in western Thessaloniki, “Nikos Kazantzakis”, an outbreak of coronavirus among students and teachers was noted – 48 cases. Parents believe that the school should be closed.

According to Voria.gr, 45 cases were found in students, and three teachers tested positive. There are 260 children in this school. The spread of coronavirus in an educational institution is recorded throughout the week, so parents and students are in favor of its immediate closure.

The school administration says that all cases are scattered among different grades, and therefore the question of closing the school was not on the agenda. According to the existing recommendations of the authorities and protocols, the school closes if the number of cases is 50% + 1. Here, the largest number of cases in one class did not exceed nine people. Two of the 45 sick children have already returned to school after recovering.
