Alec Baldwin charged with murder

An accidental shot on the set of a western in the United States turned popular actor Alec Baldwin into a murderer – he injured two people, one of whom died in the hospital.

The weapon for the filming of the film “Rust” was supposed to be loaded with blank cartridges, but the shot from it proved fatal for the cameraman and director of the picture in which Baldwin plays the main role and is a co-producer. As a result of a gunshot wound, the woman operator died, the director is in critical condition, the KRQE TV channel reports, citing the police.

The tragic incident became known today, Friday. The western was filmed at Bonanza Creek Ranch near Santa Fe, New Mexico. The victims – a 42-year-old cameraman and a 48-year-old director – were sent by air ambulance to Albuquerque hospital, but the operator died, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

It remains unclear why the weapon was not loaded properly, and what actually happened on the set. The police are conducting a preliminary investigation. A representative of the production company in his testimony claims that there was a “mistaken shot” from a firearm, which should have been loaded with blank cartridges. The shooting of the western is stopped.

Alec Baldwin acts as the producer of the film “Rust” and plays the main role – the famous criminal Harland Rast (the name of the film comes from the English rust – “rust”), who found out that his grandson was accused of accidental murder, and the family goes on the run, the newspaper says. RBK…

Galina Hutchins, a 42-year-old director of photography, was taken to hospital with a severe wound from which she died. She is originally from Ukraine and studied journalism in Kiev and directing in Los Angeles. In 2019, she was called a rising star. In 2020, she was the director of photography for the film Nemesis, directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer, who comments on the tragic incident on Twitter:

“I am simply saddened by the loss of Galina. And he got so angry that something like this happened on the set. She had a great talent devoted to art and cinema. “

Galina, 42, previously uploaded to Instagram a photo of the entire film crew and a video, under which she wrote: “When you go west, it’s good that you can skate during the break.”

So far, no arrests have been made and no charges have been brought against anyone. Local Santa Fe New Mexican reports that 68-year-old Alec Baldwin left the sheriff’s office in tears and could not stop crying.
