“The aesthetic, functional and ecological modernization of Athens, with large-scale events in the center of the capital and the university area, is progressing according to the established plan and schedule,” the Athens municipal authorities note in a press release just released.

With the completion of the temporary intervention period and the recent start of renovation work on the lower part of Syntagma Square, the Municipality of Athens will continue the corresponding work on Panepistimiou Street at the end of the year under the Great Walk project.

After major construction works on the central street of the capital, 19,360 sq. M. Will be equipped. more aesthetically modernized and environmentally valuable public space.

To enhance sustainable mobility by expanding existing sidewalks, 4270 sqm will be allocated for pedestrians, and 2260 sqm of green space (large flower beds with shrubs and seasonal plants), combined with 87 new large plane trees to be planted along the road at both sides.
