Restrictions on entry to the center of Athens return from October 25

The return of the ring (Δακτύλιος) from October 25 in Athens was announced by the authorities.

This measure aims to reduce traffic congestion in the center of Athens and, therefore, reduce air pollution both in most of Athens and in the area of ​​its center.

How the ring (Δακτύλιος) works
According to the size of the small ring, from Monday to Friday, only private cars and private trucks with a maximum permissible weight of up to 2.2 tons are allowed – within its limits.

More specific:

On even dates, cars and trucks with a maximum mass of up to 2.2 tons with registration numbers ending in 0, 2, 4, 6 and 8 (i.e. even numbers) are allowed to move inside the ring. On odd calendar dates, private cars and private trucks with a maximum permissible weight of up to 2.2 tons are allowed, the registration number of which ends with the digits 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 (i.e. odd numbers).

What are the limits of the ring
The following avenues and streets are the borders:

Αλεξάνδρας – Ζαχάρωφ – Μεσογείων – Φειδιππίδου – Μιχαλακοπούλου – Σπ. Μερκούρη – Βρυάξιδος – Υμηττού – Ηλ. Ηλιού – Αμβρ. Φραντζή – Συγγρού – Χαμοστέρνας – Πειραιώς – Ιερά Οδός – Κωνσταντινουπόλεως – Αχιλλέως – Πλατεία Καραϊσκάκη – Καρόλου – Μάρνη – 28ης Οκτωβρίου (Πατησίων) – Αλεξάνδρας.

The boundaries of the small ring are marked with special signs “D” on a yellow background, which are located on each entrance road to the ring.

It should be noted that this regulation (Δακτύλιος) comes into force every year from October and is terminated in July of the following year (for 2 summer months + September).
