Significant increase in rental prices in Attica

Rental prices in the Attica metropolitan area have risen significantly, according to the Spitogatos Property Index (SPI). The index also showed that the gap between more accessible areas and more expensive areas has narrowed, limiting the choice of those seeking cheaper housing.

The most significant price increases were recorded at 14.7% in the traditionally working-class suburbs of the port of Piraeus, compared with the 11.3% growth rate recorded in wider Attica. This means that the average rental price in the suburb of Piraeus has reached 6.9 euros per square meter, compared to 7.2 euros per square meter in the rest of Attica.

The demand for rent in the western suburbs of Attica also increased, where prices rose by 7.3% and reached an average of 7 euros per square meter. To illustrate the rise in prices, two years ago, the average price in the area was 4.5 euros per square meter.

However, rental prices in the center of Athens have largely remained the same over the past year, at € 9 per square meter, possibly indicating that the market has reached equilibrium, even if it remains high, even when compared to years before the crisis.
