Death toll from coronavirus in Greece exceeds 15,000

The number of patients with coronavirus recorded as the cause of death surpassed 15,000 on Wednesday, after health authorities announced the death of 21 more patients in the past 24 hours.

Two-thirds of all deaths have occurred since the start of vaccination in the country at the end of December 2020.

Among the last victims – unvaccinated 20-year-old malesuffering from asthma and overweight.

Also on Wednesday, authorities announced 2,331 new cases of coronavirus, and the number of intubated Covid patients in intensive care units rose to 347.

On Wednesday night, the Ministry of Health announced the end of locally imposed mini-quarantines due to an increase in the number of infections, as well as “more freedoms” for vaccinated citizens. More in a separate post here
