Driving licenses will cost more for the unvaccinated

Long waiting times for a driver’s license are mainly observed in the provinces. After the coronavirus pandemic, a large number of people willing to learn to drive has increased the demand for courses in driving schools, which were previously closed during a long quarantine period.

In Attica, the situation is starting to normalize, says Aris Zografos, president of the Panhellenic Driving Instructors’ Association, to iefimerida.gr.

“In Attica, the wait is not so long. The system has begun to normalize. On the other hand, in the provinces, there are cases when candidates start the training procedure this year and pass exams next year. In the” local “plan, a tendency was found that by acquaintance they give out places in the queue to pass the exam early. In Attica, whatever queue exists, it will be zeroed by October, “notes Mr. Zografos.

At the same time, there was a problem with potential drivers who were not vaccinated against Covid-19. Under the new measures, unvaccinated drivers will have to take a rapid test weekly, 48 hours before theoretical and practical training.

“According to available data, 25% of driving school students in Attica are not vaccinated. The mandatory rapid test is a deterrent for candidates. Anyone who decides to start the procedure for obtaining a driver’s license will have to fork out for the additional cost of tests, ”said the president of the All-Greek Association of Driving Instructors.

In particular, the association requires that the courses be held in theoretical training centers for candidate drivers with the physical presence of the trainees, as well as observing all precautions and using 50% of the center’s capabilities (half full to maintain distance).
