In the children’s hospitals Agia Sofia and Aglaya Kiryaku, 15 children are being treated for coronavirus, including a 2-month-old baby in the intensive care unit.
The smallest patient has been diagnosed with respiratory failure, but, according to doctors, her life is out of danger, SKAI reports. Another patient, 5 years old, was hospitalized with post-inflammatory syndrome. Usually, this complication occurs 5-6 weeks after the underlying coronavirus disease.
Medical specialists give a disappointing prognosis for the disease of children with covid. Professor Demosthenes Sarigiannis estimates that up to 70,000 minors may be ill by the end of the year. He emphasizes:
“The daily incidence rate of children is now likely to rise from 30% to 40%, with 2% to 4% of children becoming seriously ill.”
