Call for the evacuation of residents of Arkalohori
Residents of the village of Arkalohori remain on the streets in fear mode with continuous seismic vibrations that peaked today during a strong earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale. As a precaution, civil protection is urging people to move to the swimming pool and exhibition center to relieve the Arkalohori center. At the same time, the Municipality of Minoa Pediados is organizing the installation of tents in the Exhibition Center area for people who are left homeless, as a large number of houses have either collapsed or sustained serious damage.
Damage reports to villages
To date, many damage to buildings in the villages of Russochoria, Archontiko and Pasideros has been recorded at the fire brigade center.
Rescued in the village of Pacideros
Two residents of Pacideros village were rescued, one of whom was trapped inside his house, unable to open the door due to the damage caused by the earthquake.
Killed by an earthquake
A man who fell from the roof of a church during an earthquake and was then covered with stones that fell on him died. The EMAK employees who arrived at the scene began to free him from under the rubble, but, unfortunately, he was already dead. It is reported that the deceased took part in the repair work on the roof of the church.
The epicenter of the earthquake, according to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, was located 23 km northwest of the village of Arves. The source depth is estimated at 10 km.
20 minutes later, at 9:37 am, in the same area, there was another strong shock, with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale. Its focal depth is also estimated at 10 km.

Information speaks of destruction in the Arkalohori area, stones falling on the roads, as well as buildings that were seriously damaged by strong tremors.
