Angela Merkel visited the Marlow Bird Park on Thursday, during her visit to her constituency of Mecklenburg-Pomerania. Posing with birds in her arms, Merkel cheerfully fed the parrots, but one of them preferred the chancellor’s hand to bird food.
Merkel made a farewell tour of her constituency to support her presidential candidate Georg Gooder. In a bird park in Marlow, the chancellor wanted to feed its inhabitants and was given a paper cup of food – the so-called loris nectar, made from pollen, fructose, grain and water. Parrots began to peck food from Merkel’s hands, while one of them unceremoniously sat on the Chancellor’s head, and one bird pecked at the finger. Judging by the expression on Merkel’s face in the photo, the bite was quite painful.
Nevertheless, after the parrots, Merkel decided to get acquainted with a European owl (about 60 cm high) and this time she showed great caution, refusing to take him in her arms.
At the end of her tenure, she gets bitten by a parrot. Not sure how much Merkel enjoys her final trip across Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. This picture by Georg Wendt / dpa is brilliant. pic.twitter.com/tupBZ3Ny9a
