Greece: green light given to vaccinate children 12+

Taking into account the start of the school year and the opening of schools, the Greek Prime Minister approved the vaccination of children over 12 years old, recommended by specialists.

According to ERT, a decision has been made to include private pediatricians in the vaccination process for children. Discussion and adoption of it took place at a meeting of the leadership of the Greek Ministry of Health, pediatricians and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The government hopes that many parents vaccinate their children before school starts.

Yannis Oikonomou, a Greek government spokesman, speaking today on SKAI, announced a little earlier about the participation of pediatricians in the vaccination program and the location of vaccination centers outside educational institutions:

“As for children, first of all they are pediatricians. Obviously, pediatricians have to come into play to convince with their knowledge and make vaccines themselves. Ways are being looked for, and very soon there will be ads in this direction so that pediatricians can participate in this process in an organized way. The government has given assurances that it can deliver a vaccination site as close to schools as possible, if necessary.
