Education Minister Niki Kerameos spoke about the government’s plans for the new academic year, regarding the sanitary protocol for educational institutions.
The priority of the government and the Ministry of Education is the introduction of strict controls to protect against coronavirus, the use of tests and masks to prevent a repeat of school closings, as the Minister of Education emphasized today.
According to radio SKAI, the government is discussing the issue of new protocols with a committee of experts, and an announcement will be made in the coming days. “We are moving away from the trend of school closures and moving on to increased testing, more lab tests and wearing masks everywhere except in physical education classes,” said Ms Kerameos.
The Minister stated that the unconditional priority is the functioning of all educational structures “live”, not remotely. The official noted that about 80% of teachers are vaccinated, and if you add 10% of those who have recovered, only 10% will remain unvaccinated.
