Role model: China has limited time for online games

The Chinese authorities are seriously concerned about the growing dependence on online games and have introduced restrictions on children.

From now on, only 3 hours a week, Chinese children will be able to enjoy computer games, Reuters reported today. Minors will be able to play online games for no more than an hour on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, as well as on holidays. At the same time, the country’s authorities clearly regulated the time – from 20:00 to 21:00.

Not hoping for the law-abiding players, the authorities imposed a strict ban on companies providing game content to children under 18. They were obliged to make sure that there is an established system for verifying the real username, and also banned from providing gaming services to children, in any form, outside of the designated hours.

This decision toughened the previously existing rules – 3 hours on holidays and no more than one and a half hours on others.
