Fallen tree scared the security of the American diplomat

An incredible incident took place in the center of the Greek capital – during a dinner of the American ambassador to Greece, Geoffrey Pyatt, a tree collapsed on a restaurant.

The place where the joint meal of the US Ambassador to Athens Jeffrey Ross Pyett and Bob Menendez, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, took place, is located in the city center, behind the Diocese of Athens. Last night, at about 9 o’clock, a large tree growing near the restaurant suddenly fell directly on the tent of the establishment, destroying it, and then on the sidewalk. Fortunately, none of the restaurant’s visitors were injured, SKAI reports.

However, the incident put the guards of high-ranking US officials on alert. At the same moment they were ready for any development of events. Security officials rushed to protect Payette and Menendez and escorted them out of the scene for fear of a terrorist attack, and other restaurant patrons, staff and passers-by were alarmed.
