The new measures will take effect on September 13 for unvaccinated citizens, Health Minister Vasilis Kikilias said in a statement on Tuesday morning, August 24 this year.
The head of the intensive care unit of Evangelismos General Hospital, President of the Greek Intensive Care Society, Professor Anastasia Kotanidou also attended the briefing by the Ministry of Health.
“This fall, each of us can defend and protect,” said Mr Kikilias of the vaccine, referring to last season. “This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. More than 90% of patients in intensive care units with COVID are not vaccinated. We have a choice. A vaccine is a scientific achievement, ”the minister emphasized.
“At least 6 million of our fellow citizens have been fully vaccinated. To achieve 80% of the herd immunity required, you must be vaccinated. Another 1 million citizens need vaccinations. I believe in the Greek people and that patriotism will prevail over my own ego, ”the Minister of Health added in his opening statement.

Unvaccinated workers in the public and private sectors will have to do laboratory tests once a week for 10 euros.
Unvaccinated schoolchildren and students:
For schoolchildren, 2 self-tests per week are compulsory, available free of charge. However, it is mandatory to declare the results on the self-testing.gov.gr platform. For students, there is an obligation to carry out 2 laboratory rapid antigen or pcr tests (PCR) per week, exclusively at private diagnostic centers, at the student’s expense (€ 10), as evidenced by a digital negative test certificate from gov.gr and verified with using the covid free app by the university authorities.
The test will be necessary for travelers to get around
