At dawn today, another fire broke out in Daskalio (Keratea). The reason was two flares fired from the area near the beach. This is confirmed by witnesses and surveillance cameras.
Lavreotika Mayor Dimitris Lucas gave details on the Hra Hellas of Open program on the Open channel:
“Two flares fell, one red and one yellow, and immediately a fire broke out in the immediate vicinity of the houses. An evacuation order was issued. Fortunately, there were roads around the perimeter that the fire brigade was able to drive and reduce the fire. At 3:30 am there was evacuation from 112, we brought three buses from the municipality to take people to the beach. Then the fire was reduced. An arson attempt was made in Sounio with a suspicious vehicle, one on Monday in Agios Konstantinos, and today we had our third signal flare attempt. There were two suspicious cars, numbers of which were given to the police. An investigation is in progress. There are videos and witnesses on the beach. Dascalio was under threat. “
At this time, the culprit (s) have not been found. Police continue to search and investigate the incident, with a team of 27 firefighters and 12 vehicles working on the scene.
