Swedish citizen arrested for drug trafficking and money laundering

A Swedish citizen wanted by his country’s authorities for trafficking large quantities of cocaine and money laundering was arrested in Nea Fokea, Halkidiki.

According to the state broadcaster ERT, the man was vacationing at the resort with his wife and two children.

There was a European arrest warrant against the 38-year-old man.

According to the case file, the suspect is accused of at least two cases of importing 337 kg of cocaine by sea.

In addition, the same person is accused of legalizing 400,000 euros as a result of his illegal activities, for which he bought land and other assets in Sweden, Germany, Greece and Panama.

According to police, the crimes were committed from summer 2020 to November 2020 in Sweden and other European countries.

The suspect is in custody and will be brought before the prosecutor of Thessaloniki, who will begin the procedure for his extradition to Sweden.
