Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Helps Fire Victims

The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has launched a charity campaign to support the victims of the wildfires in Greece.

The Archdiocese will hold a second fundraiser on Sunday in more than 500 US churches to raise money to support the victims. People who wish to make a direct donation can do so at Archdiocese website

“May God the Comforter through the Holy Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, whose sacred Dormition we will celebrate in a few days, send the earliest relief to the people of Greece and put an end to this terrible hell, which continues to this day and devastates our Hellas,” the Archbishop of America said in his message Elpidophorus.

Message from Elpidophorus:

“My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Even now, as I speak to you, the fires continue to ravage Greece. And when this horror ends, thousands of our Greek brothers will be left without their homes and property.

For this reason, I call on every parish of our sacred archdiocese this Sunday to hold a special gathering for this purpose – on the same day when we celebrate the feast of the Assumption of the Most Holy Theotokos.

I also invite anyone who wishes to make a direct donation to visit the website of our Archdiocese.

A report on all funds raised for this purpose will be made public so that every person of goodwill can see how his generosity has led to positive results on the ground in Greece.

May God the Comforter through the Holy Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos, whose sacred Dormition we will celebrate in a few days, send speedy relief to the people of Greece and put an end to this terrible hell that continues to ravage our Hellas. “

His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros.
