Greek health authorities announced on Wednesday 28 July 2874 new coronavirus cases and 15 Covid-related deaths in the past 24 hours. The number of intubated Covid patients in inpatient intensive care units is 144.

In terms of positive test results, the National Health Organization EODY announced today that the rate was 3.26% of 540,283 PCR and Rapid lab tests and 0.79% of a total of 894,838 self-tests. Data refer to week 19-25 July 2021.
New laboratory confirmed cases of infections registered in the last 24 hours amount to 2,874 people, of which 10 were detected after checks upon entry into the country. The total number of cases is 485,015 (daily change + 0.6%), of which 51.2% are men. Based on confirmed cases in the last 7 days, 118 cases are considered to be related to travel from abroad, and 1316 cases to a known case. The Rt for territory on a case basis is estimated to be 1.16 (95% Crl: 1.03 – 1.40). The new death toll from COVID-19 is 15, with a total of 12,926 deaths since the outbreak began. 95.1% had an underlying disease and / or were 70 years of age or older. The number of patients on intubation is 144 (61.1% of men). Their average age is 65. 82.6% have an underlying medical condition and / or are 70 years of age or older. Since the start of the pandemic, 2,799 patients have been discharged from intensive care units. 196 new patients with Covid-19 were admitted to hospitals in the region (day shift + 28.1%). On average, 167 patients were hospitalized in seven days. The average age of cases is 41 years (range 0.2 to 106 years), and the average age of death is 78 years (range 0.2 to 106 years).
