The remains of a young seal were found on the rocky beach of the islet of Perister, near Alonissos… A spear fired from an underwater gun killed a marine mammal. A tag on its tail indicated that it was Kostis, the famous seal of Alonissos.

Kostis loved to swim up to boats, enjoyed sleeping on beach loungers, and was never aggressive. He loved people, and he was loved by young and old, with the exception of one bipedal assassin.

Kostis was rescued at a young age off the island of Folgenadros in the Aegean Sea in 2018. He was 2 weeks old when he was separated from his mother during Medicane Zorbas. He weighed only 13 kilograms.
