Japan: “anti-sex measures” at the Olympics

During a pandemic, the issue of security in the Olympic village comes first, and the authorities are doing everything to demonstrate the effectiveness of the measures taken. Sometimes it turns out not quite adequate.

At every Games, sex in the Olympic Village invariably becomes a topic of discussion. Some, however, wonder how athletes who managed to get to the Olympic Games can be distracted by such “trifles”. However, everyone has their own attitude to such a pastime.

In an effort to ensure safety and social distance, the organizers of the Olympic Village have outdone themselves. Athletes rest on cardboard beds, which simply break if the maximum weight is exceeded. That is, it is unlikely that the two of them will be able to sit on such a bed. True, some couples may well choose a floor for comfort, which the specialists called upon to ensure safety simply did not think about.

Condoms, according to established tradition, are still distributed to the participating athletes. However, they are encouraged to take contraceptives home with you, as an original souvenir and “to help raise awareness.” Sports blog Deadspin (USA) has already commented on the administration’s unprecedented steps to ensure security: in their stupidity, “anti-sex measures” at the Tokyo Olympics have officially surpassed the level of gold medals.

But let’s not be too harsh: the organizers of the Tokyo Olympics did face a major challenge. They are trying to instill the illusion of their safety by any means and to convince everyone that they observe social distance, and the spread of the coronavirus is simply impossible. And no sex, please, to “avoid unnecessary forms of physical contact.”

However, cardboard beds don’t seem to help much. In the hotel where the Brazilian judo team lives, for example, an outbreak of coronavirus was recorded – 8 employees tested positive for COVID-19. Last Thursday, the organizing committee of the Games announced a positive test for one of the athletes who arrived (country and sport are not specified), he must go through a 14-day quarantine. The first case of a positive test was recorded among athletes. On Friday morning, the Australian national team lost two athletes – a basketball player and a tennis player. The British tennis team has lost the main Olympic hope: Dan Evans withdrew from the competition after a positive test. And the problems seem to be just beginning …
