Syriza blames New Democracy for anti-vaccine protests

Reaffirming strong support for vaccinations, a SYRIZA spokesman on Thursday made accusations against the ruling New Democracy, saying that it “turns a blind eye” to the fact, he said, that anti-vaccines are part of its constituency.

Nassos Iliopoulos said anti-vaccination demonstrations in major cities in Greece were a wake-up call for the ruling party. “It is clear that the ND deputies are well aware of anti-vaccinations,” he said.

“The government and [премьер-министр Кириакос] The Mitsotakis are fully responsible for this mobilization, ”as he said their failed vaccination policy“ sabotaged ”efforts.

As we reported earlier, on July 14, a wave of protests swept across Greece, at which participants protested against compulsory vaccination for certain categories of employees, against vaccinations for adolescents and against vaccination in general.

According to various estimates *, the demonstrations were attended by from 6 to 50 thousand people.

* 6 thousand according to the police, 50 and more – according to the estimates of the organizers and participants of the rallies.
