A tourist from Russia enjoys life in Crete and, apparently, the Greek lifeguards. How else to explain that for two years in a row, on the same beach, Yorgos Makridakis saves her.
Greek public television ERT tells about an unusual case – a rescuer on the island of Crete pulled a Russian tourist out of the sea waves for the second time:
“He couldn’t believe his eyes when in Stalis in Heraklion he pulled an elderly woman out of the storm waves: it was her that he saved the life of a year ago on the same beach, when she also defied danger and was carried away by the current.”
The 75-year-old Russian citizen, who permanently resides in the area, went to the beach for a swim, as usual. However, strong waves prevented the lady from getting back to the shore. Yorgos Makridakis came to the rescue. Imagine his surprise when, on the shore, a man discovered that he had already saved a Russian woman last year.
Makridakis joked that she became his best regular client. However, he still warned the woman – advised her to be more careful and not risk her life when the sea is restless.
