Coronavirus: numbers in Attica

Of great concern is the new increase in coronavirus cases reported last week, as well as the spread of the Delta mutation.

The number of cases has returned to high levels and yesterday, EODY announced 1,997 cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours. This worries the special committee of infectious disease specialists, as well as the government, which is trying to convince citizens who have not yet been vaccinated of the need for it.

According to the data, 44% of the adult population of the country have not received a single dose of vaccine from the coronavirus, while some population groups have very low rates. In particular, the 18-24 age group, which is most at risk of contracting a new virus strain, is 83.5% unvaccinated. 61% of people aged 30-39 also remain unvaccinated.

In the age groups that are most concerned about specialists, that is, between the ages of 50 and 59 and between 80 and older, the percentage of the unvaccinated, although lower, still does not allow one to calm down. The number of vaccinated citizens aged 50-59 is 36.20%, and at the age of 80 – 30.20%.

Coronavirus: numbers in Attica

Significant discrepancies are evident in the percentage of vaccinated in Attica. According to official data, the “champions” in vaccination are residents of the northern outskirts: 1 dose (81%) or completely (60%).

In the eastern part of Attica, 21.97% are vaccinated with a single dose and only 15.88% are fully vaccinated.

In West Attica, 21% are vaccinated with a single dose and 16.30% are fully vaccinated. In the southern sector of Attica, there is a low level of vaccination, and the positivity (spread of the virus) index is growing every day.

Coronavirus: Increased Positivity Index

Meanwhile, after a while, the positivity index again enters our life, since with the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus, it also grows fatally.

In particular, since 1997 new cases in 24 hours, the positivity index rose to 2.9%, and so far it is still “green”, but not far from “reddening”. Recall that the “green” color turns to orange, and then to red, starting at 4% (established by experts). Fears are growing that we will not reach a “red” epidemiological situation in the near future.
