In connection with a large fire in Chios, the evacuation of settlements is underway. 42 firefighters, two infantry units, 5 vehicles, 6 aircraft and 3 helicopters are involved in extinguishing the fire.
The fire broke out at 07:00 on Thursday morning for a currently unknown cause. In confrontation with fire, a strong wind interferes with fire, the speed of which reaches 7 points on the Beaufort scale.
Yannis Vurakis, chief of the fire department of Chios, reports that the fire took place in the center of the village, in connection with which a preventive evacuation order was issued.
