Earthquake 4.2 in Crete

On July 5 at 11:40 pm, an earthquake struck Crete, with an epicenter 22 km southeast of the city of Heraklio.

According to the Athens Geodynamic Institute, the power of the earthquake is estimated at 4.2 points on the Richter scale. The epicenter is located 22 km southeast of Heraklio, directly under the road to Arkalohori. The focal depth is 15 km.

After the main shock, 7 aftershocks occurred, with a magnitude of up to 3 points.

The earthquake data comes from the Geodynamic Institute of Athens or the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Institute. They are recorded by an automatic computer system, without the participation of seismologists, and are in the process of constant updating.
