Cruise ship “Celestyal Olympia” in the port of Thessaloniki

The Celestial Olympia cruise ship is docked in the port of Thessaloniki.

At 9.30 am, the Celestial Olympia cruise ship arrived at the port of Thessaloniki, becoming the “first sign” in the new tourist season. The comfortable liner has accommodated 50 passengers of different nationalities on board, who have stepped on board the ship in Lavrio and are currently on a sightseeing tour of the city.

“After 1 pm, another 180 passengers will arrive on the cruise liner, of which 70-80 are Greeks, and the rest are from the Balkans, in particular from Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria,” a source told APE-MPE, noting that the ship will leave at 18.00 to the island of Mykonos.

For the first time in 15 years, the port of Thessaloniki will become the port of the beginning and the end of the cruise season (registration of cruise liners) this year. As planned, Celestyal Cruises’ Celestial Olympia and Celestyal Crystal will dock a total of 14 times per season.

Last year, the only cruise ship anchored in Thessaloniki was Μυθικό Αρχιπέλαγος (mainly due to the coronavirus pandemic).

Celestial Olympia will visit Thessaloniki, Mykonos, Santorini, Agios Nikolaos in Crete, Rhodes and Limassol in Cyprus. Passengers also have the option of walking around Athens.
