Flight Moscow-Athens: COVID detected in four air passengers

Four Russians flying to Greece with vaccination certificates showed a positive response when tested for coronavirus at the airport.

The incident that occurred on Saturday, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in the field of tourism. At present, the plane returning from Greece is being thoroughly disinfected at the Domodedovo airport. According to the source:

“On Saturday, June 26, a total check was carried out on all passengers on the Aegean plane. All of them passed an express test. Four tourists tested positive, they were quarantined in Athens. We are not talking about fake certificates, these people were vaccinated. Previously, isolated cases of coronavirus in vaccinated people were detected at the border. Now four people have it at once. “

According to the same source, earlier similar isolated incidents occurred in Cyprus – coronavirus was detected in vaccinated, certified tourists.

From Monday, that is, from today, Russia increases the number of flights to Greece: Moscow – Athens – from 4 to 7 per week, Moscow-Thessaloniki and Moscow-Heraklion 5 flights per week, Moscow-Rhodes and Moscow-Corfu – 4 flights per week week, Moscow-Araxos and Moscow-Zakynthos for 2 flights, Rostov-on-Don-Thessaloniki, Mineralnye Vody-Thessaloniki and Samara-Thessaloniki for 2 flights, Krasnodar-Thessaloniki and Kazan-Thessaloniki for 1 flight weekly.

Since June 30, due to the epidemiological situation in Russia and the spread of the Delta coronavirus mutation, Greece tightens control for tourists coming from the Russian Federation.

According to the Greek Ministry of Tourism, Russian citizens crossing the border must have an express test certificate or a negative PCR test result. Moreover, even vaccinated persons must present one of these documents.

The tightening of control, the ministry notes, is associated with the spread of the Indian Delta strain in Russia and is introduced to ensure the safety of both tourists and workers in the tourism sector. The innovation comes into force on June 30, 2021. The measure is mandatory and applies to all Russian citizens arriving in Greece. In addition, all Russian travelers will be checked upon arrival in Greece.
