Coronavirus certificate changes expiration date

The Greek Civil Aviation Authority announces a change in the validity period of the sickness certificate for travel to the islands and entry into the country.

Now, the certificate of the transferred coronavirus is valid for 180 days, the countdown of which begins after the first positive test is received. Until today, such a document has been valid for 9 months. The certificate is one of the conditions for entering Greece or traveling from the mainland to the islands. The certificate is issued 30 days after the detection of a disease with a positive test for coronavirus.

The Civil Aviation Service announces that a 6-month health certificate issued by a government agency will apply to both international and domestic air travel. Previous instructions stipulated a validity period of 2-9 months.

According to the Greek Ministry of Tourism, Russian tourists crossing the border must have an express test certificate or a negative PCR test result. Moreover, even vaccinated citizens must present one of these documents. It provides for testing tourists from Russia at the points of entry, with a stay in the control zone until the check result is issued and with a mandatory time limit in case of a positive result.

The tightening of control, the ministry notes, is associated with the spread of the Indian Delta strain in Russia and is introduced to ensure the safety of both tourists and workers in the tourism sector. The innovation comes into force on June 30, 2021. The measure is mandatory and applies to all Russian citizens arriving in Greece. In addition, all Russian travelers will be checked upon arrival in Greece.

Earlier, the government newspaper published a joint inter-ministerial decision to extend until July 3 the procedure for the entry of foreign citizens, including Russians, into the country. An unlimited number of Russian tourists are ready to welcome Greece. To enter the country in a pandemic, guests of Greece must have a certificate of vaccination against COVID-19, or a certificate of a previous illness and the presence of antibodies, or a negative PCR test – that is, all previous rules remain as amended to date. After entering the country, you will not have to go through quarantine.

Citizens of the EU and Schengen states, Australia, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Great Britain, Israel, Canada, Belarus, Bahrain, New Zealand, South Korea can freely enter Greece if they have the necessary documents and by any means of travel. , Qatar, China, Kuwait, Ukraine, Rwanda, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Serbia, Singapore, Thailand, Montenegro.

Entry is permitted through all international airports in Greece. All persons arriving in Greece are required to complete the electronic Passenger Locator Form (PLF) the day before arrival, providing contact details. Confirmation by the system of its receipt is a mandatory travel document. In the absence of PLF, the passenger is not allowed on the plane, and companies that let such a passenger in must send him back, assuming all transport costs.

All citizens who are allowed to enter must present upon arrival either a certificate of vaccination completed at least 14 days before travel, or a negative PCR test taken 72 hours before entry, or a certificate of previous coronavirus disease and the presence of antibodies, which is now valid for 180 days. It is important that the documents required by the Greek side from the Russians can be in Russian – a certificate, test result or a certificate of a past illness indicating the presence of antibodies.
