WHO: updated guidelines for adolescents and children

The World Health Organization recommends vaccinating children 12 and older. The experts concluded that the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine is safe and effective in the 12+ age group.

In this regard, WHO has updated the recommendations with the addition of this paragraph and published them on its official website. The doc says:

“Children and adolescents, as a rule, have a milder course of the disease than adults, so if they are not in a group with a higher risk of a severe course of coronavirus, vaccinate them [можно] not as urgent as the elderly, people with chronic illnesses and healthcare professionals. “

At the same time, experts emphasize that more data are needed for general recommendations for vaccination of younger children. It is also noted that WHO will update the recommendations when, as a result of ongoing research, new data are obtained or the epidemiological situation changes.
