The trial of the attack by two Rottweilers on 5-year-old Stafis in Kozani began on the morning of Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
The incident occurred on May 1, 2016, when a mother and a minor child visited the home of the accused, invited to an Easter feast. Pets, Rottweiler dogs, attacked 5-year-old Staffis and took his life.
In the dock is the owner of the dogs, in whose house a tragic incident took place. More than 20 prosecution and defense witnesses are expected to testify at the trial.
According to kozanilife, at the beginning of the trial, the mother of the deceased child lost consciousness. A tense atmosphere reigned in the courtroom throughout the hearing.
The child’s mother and seven other witnesses testified on the first day of a controversial trial, while Rottweiler owners are charged with negligent homicide.
The testimony of the doctors at the Mamatsio Hospital in Kozani (Μαμάτσειου Νοσοκομείου Κοζάνης), with horrifying details, described the moment of the child’s admission to the medical facility. The anesthesiologist put it this way: “We received the body of a torn child in our arms … There was no hope of salvation …”.
The trial, which is expected to be lengthy due to the large number of witnesses, has been postponed until Friday 25 June.
